EchteVacatures.nl is a Dutch job site with one rule: the organisation that posts the vacancy is also the organisation that employs the new colleague.

Why this site exists

Anyone looking for work in the Netherlands first has to find a way through the agencies. The same role is online five times: once with the employer and four times with intermediaries who picked it up. Three of those do not even mention the employer by name. You send your CV, and the first conversation is not about the work but about an arrangement.

For employers the mirror image is just as annoying. You put a vacancy online and lose control of it: candidates no longer know who they are applying to, and your own vacancy is offered back to you with a placement fee on top.

There is nothing illegal about mediation, and sometimes an agency is useful. But not being able to see who you are dealing with should not be the norm. So this site is not a crusade against the staffing industry: it is one place where you know for certain that you end up with the employer itself.

How we make our money

From employers, and only from the use of their vacancy. Posting costs nothing; points are deducted when someone opens the vacancy and when a candidate responds. On registration an employer receives points from us, so they can see what the site brings before paying anything. For job seekers everything is free, including the profile.

We choose this because a fixed amount per vacancy pushes the wrong way: the employer who posts once and hears nothing then pays as much as the employer who receives ten good candidates. This way they pay for what they get.

What we deliberately do not do: a fee per candidate, a commission on a placement, or a percentage of an annual salary. The moment we would earn from placing people, we become exactly what we do not want to be for anyone. We never become a party to the employment relationship.

What we do not do

• No mediation. We do not put candidates forward and we take no fee.
• No scraping. Every vacancy comes from the employer itself: either they post it here, or we collect it from their own careers page. Never from a job board or an agency.
• No CV trade. We do keep CVs, in the job seeker's own profile, but we sell and rent them to no one. An employer sees a profile only after an application, or if the candidate has opened up their profile themselves.
• No anonymous vacancies. Every vacancy names the employer.

Who is behind it

EchteVacatures.nl is an initiative of MaRan Information Technology BV. A small team, no investor putting growth above the rule. Questions, criticism or a vacancy that does not belong here: let us know, a person will answer.

Openness about the numbers

How we check shows how many registrations we refused, and on what grounds. We leave that figure in place, even when it is inconvenient. A quality mark whose rejections nobody can see is not a quality mark.
